How We Evaluated AI SEO Companies

For every AI SEO company that applied to Zyppy List, we performed a number of reputation checks of the company, including its founders and employees.

First, we conducted a first-pass evaluation using publicly available data from third-party sites such as Clutch, Trustpilot, Glassdoor, and others. We also evaluated all client feedback, including reviews, case studies, and testimonials. We gave extra weight to authentic reviews and rejected companies suspected of fake or incentivized reviews.

We examined each company’s founders and employees, paying particular attention to expertise and experience with AI SEO. We weighed academic research in AI, publications, AI search experiments, thought leadership, experience with client sites, case studies, and more.

We also considered each company’s reputation within the AI SEO industry. Companies recommended by other companies are more likely to make the list.

Finally, while it’s not our biggest factor, we considered the community involvement of each company. To the best of our ability, we evaluated whether they are good stewards of their local community and, to some extent, whether they are considered good employers.

Questions We Ask When Hiring an AI SEO Company

When we hire a company to help with AI SEO, we may ask variations of the following questions in our vetting process.

  1. How do you make our brand appear in AI search engines like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Bing’s Copilot?
  2. Can you show us examples of other clients whose content now appears in AI answers for competitive questions?
  3. How do you make sure AI tools know our brand and mention us in their answers?
  4. How do you find out what questions people are asking AI that we should be ready to answer?
  5. How do you track our brand’s visibility in LLMs?
  6. How do you optimize for fan-out queries?
  7. How long does it usually take before we start seeing results from this work?
