Shelly Cihan, Founder & Lead Strategist:

Since 2014, Shelly has dedicated her professional career to learning, executing, and speaking
about SEO and digital marketing.

In 2009, Shelly joined Adworkshop, a full-service marketing agency located in Lake Placid, NY. In less than a year, she was asked to take the lead on developing a new-to-the-agency SEO department. Over the next 11.5 years, Shelly spearheaded SEO initiatives that resulted in the department being one of the most successful in the agency. These included the early adoption of local search programs in 2010, creating a collaborative process for incorporating SEO into other marketing departments such as content, PR, and paid media, and building a level of trust with the clients that resulted in the retention of multiple SEO clients from her first day in the department until after she departed.

In 2020, Shelly launched Rooted Rock Marketing and she has not looked back. With current
clients spanning from local businesses to franchises and corporations, Shelly has been able to use her skills to help a variety of markets. She also consults with other marketing agencies to help them grow their offerings and knowledge of the digital marketing environment.

Adam McCarthy, SEO & A Specialist:

Adam has over 20 years of marketing experience across a broad spectrum of organizations —
from small not-for-profits to publicly-traded, Fortune 500 companies.

With an MBA in Business Administration, plus several years of real-world experience as a
marketing director, web consultant and designer, and small business owner, Adam is the perfect fit for our small but nimble Rooted Rock team.

Although experienced in everything from brand development to copywriting and design, Adam is happiest when he’s deep into data analysis. He loves following the data — and is especially excited when it leads him to some unexpected result.

Shannon Shearer, Paid Media Specialist:

Shannon brings skills in both marketing and communications with extensive experience in digital strategy across various industries, including destination tourism, healthcare, higher education, and B2B/B2C technology.

With a strong background in client management, digital strategy, and brand development, Shannon has worked across industries including destination tourism, healthcare, higher education, and B2B/B2C technology. She specializes in leveraging paid media channels and programmatic platforms to drive measurable results and maximize return on investment. Her data-driven approach is supported by proficiency in tools like Google Analytics, and Looker Studio allowing her to continuously analyze, optimize, and report on campaign performance.

Paula Keck, Agency Operations/Project Management:

Paula brings a wide variety of skills and experience to Rooted Rock in her role. In addition to an extensive agency background managing projects, both large and small, she
also has an eye for design, creative writing skills and a clear, compassionate communication
style. She’s happiest in a role where her creative side and analytical side mesh – and Rooted
Rock provides her that unique opportunity.

Working with local, national, and international clients, she has managed a wide variety of
projects from brand development to campaign launch and everything in between: product
development, logo development, print and digital campaigns, content development, website
development, analytics, event planning, radio and video production, and more.
